■Product Description
The Kurama was commissioned in 1981 as the second ship of the Shirane-class anti-submarine helicopter destroyers. It was an enlarged and improved version of the previous Haruna-class, but debuted with a large computer in the CIC, dramatically increasing its information processing capabilities. It also attracted attention for being equipped with Sea Sparrow short-range SAMs and 20mm CIWS Phalanx for individual ship air defense and defense. Later, the onboard helicopters were changed from HSS-2B to SH-60J, further improving its anti-submarine capabilities. The Shirane-class was the largest destroyer until the Kongo-class appeared, and the Kurama also played an active role as the core of the destroyer fleet for a long time, but with the commissioning of DDH-184 Kaga in March 2017, its role came to an end, and it was sadly decommissioned in the same month.
