■Product Description
The Type D escort ship, like the Type C escort ship, was built to be even smaller and simpler than previous escort ships, with 67 ships of this type being built from 1944. While the Type C was equipped with diesel engines, the Type D was equipped with steam turbines. Although fuel capacity increased, speed was improved. Taking advantage of its enhanced anti-submarine armament, it was deployed for missions such as escorting transport ships.
