■Product Description
The Type 74 tank is a domestically produced main battle tank that was officially adopted in 1974 as the successor to the Type 61 tank.
It has a low profile and is equipped with a 105mm rifled gun, and its hydropneumatic suspension allows it to maintain a level body even on uneven terrain. Therefore, it was also able to effectively fire along ridges from hilly terrain.
While its successor, the Type 90 tank, was mainly deployed in Hokkaido, 873 Type 74 tanks were deployed throughout the country.
This tank, which was in service for nearly 50 years, has been replaced by the Type 10 tank and the Type 16 Mobile Combat Vehicle, and all of them were retired at the end of March 2024.
