■Product Description
The Kou-class was a torpedo boat redesigned based on the lessons learned from the Tomozuru Incident (the capsizing accident of the Chidori-class torpedo boat Tomozuru), following the preceding Chidori-class. The first vessel, Kou, was completed in October 1936 (Showa 11). Its main armament consisted of three 12cm single guns and one Type 94 53cm triple torpedo tube, as well as depth charge projectors for anti-submarine warfare. With a standard displacement of 840 tons, its appearance was different from previous torpedo boats and could be called a small destroyer.
