■Product Description
The "Sawakaze" was commissioned in 1983 as the third ship of the "Tachikaze" class, the second generation of guided-missile destroyers of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. It was equipped with the Tartar-D, the latest integrated missile system at the time, and could be fitted with Standard missiles (SM-1MR) and Harpoon anti-ship missiles. In 2007, it succeeded the "Tachikaze" as the flagship of the destroyer fleet and was in service until 2010.
