■Product Description
The FFM-1 "Mogami" and FFM-2 "Kumano" were approved for construction in the FY2018 budget and are the latest type of destroyer specializing in mine countermeasures against advanced mines, equipped with mine warfare sonar, autonomous underwater vehicle (UUV) and unmanned surface vehicle (USV) for mine clearance. Improved stealth capabilities have also been considered, with most of the equipment installed on the inside of the sloping hull sides. The ships feature a distinctive unicorn-shaped composite antenna and a pyramidal mast with multi-function radars on all four sides, giving them a hull appearance that sets them apart from previous destroyers.
