■ Description
In the 1980s, twelve ships were commissioned as the first all-gaster destroyer of the Maritime Self-Defense Force, enabling helicopters to be towered. Six ships were retired and four became training ships, but the ninth, commissioned in 1986, is still in service as a destroyer.
