■Product Description
The Minekaze-class destroyers were the first Japanese-style fleet destroyers built by the Imperial Japanese Navy.
Fifteen ships were built between 1920 and 1922.
Departing from the previous British design, the ships underwent unique Japanese hull modifications, significantly improving their seaworthiness.
Their speed and armament were also strengthened, with a speed of 39 knots and armament consisting of four 12cm single guns and three 53cm twin torpedo tubes.
The tenth ship, Yukaze, was completed in 1921 and assigned to the Yokosuka Naval District.
She belonged to the Second Fleet of the Third Destroyer Division, but had very few opportunities to participate in combat and remained undamaged until the end of the war.
Furthermore, it is a ship that stands out for its achievements other than its combat record, such as successfully towing the aircraft carrier Kaiyo, which had become disabled after hitting a mine, thereby saving the lives of many Kaiyo crew members, and serving as a repatriation ship.
