■Product Description
The Tachibana-class destroyers were a simplified version of the Matsu-class, which were built as wartime hastily constructed destroyers, with a planar construction that reduced the construction period by half.
The main mission of the Matsu-class, including the Tachibana-class, was to support amphibious landings and supply operations. They were equipped with anti-aircraft guns, torpedo tubes, depth charge launchers and depth charge rails, and carried two 10m special cargo ships.
The first ship, the Tachibana, completed at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in January 1945, was attacked by Allied aircraft off the coast of Hakodate in July of the same year, ending its short life.
The sister ships Nire, Nashi, and Hagi were modified to carry Kaiten torpedoes by installing mounting platforms at the stern.
The remaining ships served as repatriation transport ships after the war and were later handed over to overseas countries as war reparations. This product includes newly made Kaiten torpedoes and launching platforms to recreate the ship's appearance with Kaiten torpedoes mounted on the stern. The full hull parts (bottom of the hull, propellers, rudder) are made with new molds.
