■Product Description
The Mikuma as it appeared in 1941-1942 after its main guns were replaced and it became a heavy cruiser, is now available as a full-hull model using newly added molds.

(Basic Specifications)
・The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing, assembly, and painting.
・The scale is 1/700, and it is a full-hull specification including the bottom of the hull.
・The product is composed of conventional (Special Series) molds and newly added molds.
・The part below the waterline is made with molds designed in 2025, and the part above the waterline is made with molds designed in 2019.

(Product Specifications)
・The product is the second ship of the Mogami class This model is based on the "Mikuma" from the start of the war in 1941 to the Battle of Midway in 1942.
→Reproduces the hull cross-sectional shape, the presence or absence of air intake trunks due to the larger number of boiler rooms, and the difference in chimney thickness compared to the 3rd and 4th ships Suzuya/Kumano.
→Reproduces the appearance with unclosed portholes before the modifications based on war experience using dedicated parts.
→Reproduces the aft mast, which is a difference from the lead ship Mogami, using dedicated parts.

●Hull
・The hull parts for the early Mogami-class ships "Mogami" and "Mikuma," which have a shape where the sides (mid-deck level) are not sloped, are dedicated parts.
→The side cross-sectional shape is a special mold part that differs from the later ships Suzuya and Kumano.
→The width of the anti-aircraft gun deck is 1.0 mm (on the model) wider than Suzuya/Kumano and is made of special parts.
→The external electrical conduits are reproduced using a single mold on the hull and included etched parts.
→The running shape is different from that of Mogami/Suzuya/Kumano.
・The portholes are unclosed and numerous are lined up along the side of the hull, reproduced with delicate engraving.
→Parts are made using a dedicated mold that differentiates it from the Mogami/Suzuya/Kumano when the sides were closed after 1943

●Bridge

The machine gun mounts in front of the bridge feature 13mm twin machine guns, provided as dedicated parts.
The forward mast is reproduced with a simple tripod structure using only two parts.
●Fittings/Central Section
The boiler room air intake trunk, which is only installed on the early Mogami/Mikuma ships, is reproduced with dedicated parts in front of the bridge.
The early Mikuma ships were equipped with 12 boilers compared to the later ships, and a thick chimney, a characteristic feature, is included.
→Shaped using a dedicated part, different from the narrow type of forward smoke duct on Suzuya and Kumano
・Funnel cap is a molded part in a "removed state"
・Steam exhaust pipe is designed as a separate part to increase the sense of precision

・The structure behind the smokestack (below the searchlight) uses parts exclusive to Mogami/Mikuma

●Fittings/Stern side
・The aft mast is a Mikuma-specific part that reproduces the unique ship characteristic of the crossbeam height.
・The hoist crane reproduces the difference in shape from later ships and is given detailed sculptural expression. Characterized by the shape of the lightening holes

・The sides of the aft bridge feature specially designed parts that reproduce the air intakes arranged differently from those of later ships.
・The antenna masts installed on the roofs of the 3rd and 4th main gun turrets are specially designed parts that reproduce the unique shapes of each ship.

●Fixtures/Armament
・The elevation angle of the main gun barrels is fixed, but the turrets can be rotated even after completion.
・The twin 25mm machine guns come with precision machine gun parts, with the barrels and mounts as separate parts.
→The molded colors are battleship gray for the base and gunmetal for the barrel.
→For painting, the parts are painted in separate colors and then assembled and glued together on the runners, making painting and color separation easy.

●Hull bottom
・The hull bottom parts are a single piece for both left and right sides.
・The side bulges below the waterline are separate parts, while the hull bulges above the waterline are integrated with the hull.
・The shape of the shaft brackets and the curved shape of the eddy plates are realistically represented.
・The thickness of the rudder mounting area is reproduced, and the surface of the balanced twin rudders is engraved for a three-dimensional design.
・The water intake and drainage ports on the bottom of the hull are represented by engraving.
・The bilge keel is integrated with the bulge, and the bulge reproduces the larger external shape after performance improvements.

●Aircraft on board
・One Zero (three-seat) seaplane and two Type 95 seaplanes are included.
→The Type 95 Reconnaissance Seaplane has a detailed design with the upper wing and three floats made as separate parts.
→The Type 0 Reconnaissance Seaplane has a structure with the main float and propeller made as separate parts.
・The molded color is gray to improve workability (prevent damage when cutting gates).

●Decals
・Two types of decals, a total of two sheets are included.
・One sheet of decals includes markings such as the naval ensign, national flag, and the Hinomaru on carrier-based aircraft.
→Three sizes of naval ensigns, etc. are provided. Contents are based on the actual dimensions of 10, 6, and 3 sq ft, scaled to 1/700.
→Includes the Hinomaru (Japanese national emblem) on carrier-based aircraft, friendly identification stripes (yellow stripe), etc., and the Hinomaru also includes the late-war version without the white border.
・One decal sheet including the ship's name at the stern, white lines for the aft mast, waterline mark, etc.
→Two types of stern ship names: gold and solid battleship gray.
