(Basic Specifications)
・The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing, assembly, and painting.
・The scale is 1/700, and it is a full-hull specification including the bottom of the hull.
・The product is composed of conventional (Special Series) molds and newly added molds.
・The part below the waterline is made with molds designed in 2025, and the part above the waterline is made with molds designed in 2019.
(Product Specifications)
・The product is the first ship of the Mogami class. This model is based on the "Mogami" from the start of the war in 1941 to the Battle of Midway in 1942.
→Reproduces the hull cross-sectional shape, the presence or absence of air intake trunks due to the larger number of boiler rooms, and the difference in chimney thickness compared to the 3rd and 4th ships, Suzuya/Kumano.
→Reproduces the appearance with unclosed portholes before the modifications based on war experience using dedicated parts.
→Reproduces the aft mast, which is a difference from the 2nd ship, Mikuma, using dedicated parts.
●Hull
・The hull parts for the early Mogami-class ships "Mogami" and "Mikuma," which have a shape where the sides (mid-deck level) are not sloped, are dedicated parts.
→The side cross-sectional shape is a special mold part that differs from the later ships Suzuya and Kumano.
→The width of the anti-aircraft gun deck is 1.0 mm (on the model) wider than Suzuya/Kumano and is made of special parts.
→The external electrical conduits are molded as one piece on the hull, expressing a different running shape from Mikuma/Suzuya/Kumano.
・The portholes are unclosed and numerous are lined up along the side of the hull, reproduced with delicate engraving.
→Parts are made using a dedicated mold that differentiates them from the Mogami/Suzuya/Kumano when the sides were closed after 1943
・Parts are divided into left and right sections, with the freeboard and hull bottom separated by the waterline
●Bridge
・Transparent parts allow for a more realistic finish to the bridge windows
・Bridge structure parts are used exclusively for Mogami/Mikuma, which do not have boiler room air intakes on the sides of the bridge
・The floor of the anti-aircraft command post and compass bridge are sculpted to represent delicate grating
・The anti-aircraft command post can be attached simply Includes binoculars parts for increased detail
・The machine gun mount in front of the bridge is a 13mm twin machine gun, reproduced with dedicated parts to show the difference from ships built after 1943
・The forward mast is a simple tripod structure without radar, reproduced with only 2 parts
●Fittings/Central Section
・The boiler room air intake trunk, which is only installed on the early Mogami/Mikuma ships, is reproduced with dedicated parts in front of the bridge
・The early Mogami ship had more boilers (12) than the later ships, and a thick chimney, a characteristic feature, is included
→Shape is created with a separate dedicated part, different from the narrow type of forward smoke duct on Suzuya and Kumano
・The funnel cap is a molded part in a "removed state"
・The steam exhaust pipe is designed as a separate part to increase the sense of precision
・The structure behind the chimney (below the searchlight) uses parts exclusive to Mogami/Mikuma
・The linoleum deck is prepared with dedicated parts because the placement of ventilation pipes and equipment is different from Suzuya/Kumano
・The 12.7 cm twin high-angle gun mount is a part exclusive to Mogami/Mikuma The underside of the seat has no protruding shape, making it a part exclusive to the early model ships.
The torpedo tubes are separate parts developed specifically for heavy cruisers, distinct from those used for the existing aircraft cruiser Mogami.
The position of the torpedo tubes can be selected and reproduced in any orientation.
→The normal state along the centerline and the rotated firing position can be reproduced.
The shelter section where the torpedo tubes are installed is three-dimensionally modeled based on the official drawings, including the spare torpedo storage area.
The floor surface has a striped pattern. Reproduced with delicate, high-quality sculpting
・The catapult (Kure Type 2 Model 5) is realistically reproduced with slide molding to recreate the side and top surfaces
・The central part of the aircraft work deck is made up of special parts that do not have air intakes, which is a difference from later ships
●Fittings/Stern
・The aft mast is a special part for Mogami that reproduces the unique ship feature of the crossbeam height
・Special parts that represent the absence of radar, which is different from ships after 1943 (aircraft cruisers)
・The aft mast has a rearward-sloping top and a Y-shaped yard, and comes with a special part for the top ship.
・The hoist crane reproduces the shape difference from later ships, and is characterized by the shape of the lightening holes with finely sculpted details.
・The sides of the aft bridge have special parts that reproduce the air intakes which are arranged differently from later ships.
・The antenna masts installed on the roofs of the 3rd and 4th main gun turrets are special parts that reproduce the shape unique to each ship.
*Contents as of April 2026.
●Fixed parts/Armament
・The elevation angle of the main gun barrels is fixed, and the turrets can be rotated even after completion.
・The twin 25mm machine guns come with precision machine gun parts with the barrels and mounts as separate parts.
→The molded colors are battleship gray for the base and gunmetal for the barrels.
→For painting, the design makes it easy to paint and paint by assembling and gluing each color together on the runners after painting each color.
●Hull Bottom
・The hull bottom parts are a single piece structure for both left and right sides.
・The side bulges below the waterline are separate parts, while the hull bulges above the waterline are represented as one with the hull.
・The shape of the shaft brackets and the curved shape of the eddy plates are realistically represented.
・The thickness of the rudder mounting area is reproduced, and the surface of the balanced twin rudders is engraved for a three-dimensional design.
・The water intake and drainage ports on the bottom of the hull are represented by engraving.
・The bilge keel is one with the bulge, and the bulge reproduces the larger external shape after performance improvements.
●Aircraft
・One Zero (three-seat) seaplane and two Type 95 seaplanes are included.
→The Type 95 seaplane has the upper wing and three floats as separate parts for a precise design.
→The Zero-type seaplane has a structure in which the main float and propeller are separate parts.
・The molded color is gray to improve workability (prevent damage when cutting gates).
●Decals
・Two types of decals are included, for a total of two sheets.
・One sheet of decals includes markings such as the naval ensign, national flag, and the Hinomaru (rising sun) on carrier-based aircraft.
→Three sizes of naval ensigns, etc. are provided. Contents are based on the actual dimensions of 10 sq. ft, 6 sq. ft, and 3 sq. ft, scaled to 1/700.
→Includes the Hinomaru (Japanese national emblem) on carrier-based aircraft, friendly identification stripes (yellow stripe), etc., and the Hinomaru includes those without the white border from the later stages of the war.
・One decal sheet including the ship's name at the stern, white lines for the aft mast, waterline mark, etc.
