■Product Description
Following the previously released 1/700 Haruna in its Philippine Sea Battle configuration, this model recreates the Haruna at the start of the Battle of the Philippines, its final battle.
The battleship Haruna, the third ship of the Kongo-class battleships, was built in 1915 at the Kobe Kawasaki Shipyard, the first civilian shipyard to do so.
It underwent two refits before the Pacific War to expand its war capabilities.
The swift Haruna, among the battleships, played a vital role in escorting the carrier task force and bombarding enemy airfields, and participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the last decisive battle of the Japanese Navy, in a valiant state equipped with numerous anti-aircraft guns.
Afterward, it served as an anti-aircraft battery in the Inland Sea and in July 1945, it was severely damaged and sunk by an attack by US carrier-based aircraft outside Kure Harbor, ending its service.
