1/700 Japanese cruiser Tone (1944/Operation Shoichi-Go) Special Edition (With Etched Parts)

■Product Description
Special Series Tone now comes with photo-etched parts!

The product is modeled after the Tone-class destroyer "Tone" as it appeared during the Battle of Leyte Gulf (October 1944).
It features the No. 21 and No. 22 radars on the forward mast, the No. 13 radar on the aft mast, and numerous 25mm single-barrel machine guns.
Photo-etched parts are included to express details that are difficult to reproduce with injection-molded parts.
Photo-etched parts include railings, ladders, radars, cranes, catapults, etc.
Decals include markings such as the naval ensign, national flag, and the Hinomaru on carrier-based aircraft.

・The No. 13 radar is a newly included part with engraved truss structure and shaped antenna section.
・The No. 21 radar features more delicate engraving than conventional included parts, such as the base of the insulator for fixing the element on the front side.
・The No. 22 radar is molded in an open state using slide molding.
・The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 Kai 1 is subdivided into 6 parts, increasing the level of detail from the existing 2 parts.
・The 9-meter cutter is made into 2 parts for painting purposes, and the mount is a separate part, allowing for a choice between a single-piece deck mold or a separate mount.
・The 11-meter motorboat has separate canvas and steering room/engine room canopies for painting purposes. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued later.
・The ship's boat mounts have molded details such as uneven shapes and lightening holes, resulting in a more precise look.
・The chrysanthemum emblem on the bow, the navigation lights on the side of the bridge, and the lifebuoys are new parts.
・Binocular telescope parts have been added to the anti-aircraft command post and compass bridge.
・Decals for the ship's name on the stern (in a solid battleship gray color) and the white lines on the mast have been added.
・The Type 96 25mm machine gun comes standard with a two-part construction that reduces painting/color separation work.

Hull
・The hull is a one-piece structure with the port and starboard sides molded as one piece, allowing for a more stable shape to assemble compared to a two-piece glued-together type.
・The numerous closed and unclosed portholes along the sides of the hull, as well as the external electrical conduits surrounding the entire perimeter, are reproduced with three-dimensional sculpting.

Upper Deck
・The upper deck is a single piece, with sculpting that enhances the sense of detail, such as the fasteners for the linoleum deck and the anti-slip features for the steel deck.
Ammunition boxes are reproduced as a single molded part on the deck.

Each Deck
・The shelter deck is a separate part, and the torpedo equipment compartment on the lower level is also accurately reproduced.
・The rails leading to the aircraft work deck are made as a single piece using slide molding.

Bridge
・The distinctive small bridge structure is reproduced by layering and assembling, resulting in a precise shape reproduction.
・Ladders and truss-shaped supports are separate parts to enhance the sense of precision.

Main Turret
・The elevation angle of the main gun barrel can be reproduced in any state by adjusting the angle at which it is attached to the turret.
・The side openings made of heat shields are expressed with extremely small engravings.

Chimney
・Both the front and rear chimneys are split into left and right sections, and the handrails and double scaffolding are expressed with delicate engravings.
・The rain-shelter grates of the chimneys are open, allowing a view of the inner cylinder.
・The steam exhaust pipes are separate parts from the chimneys to enhance the sense of detail.

Mast and Aviation Equipment
・The rear mast is finished with a sense of precision despite having the minimum number of parts, such as supports and radar rooms.
・The catapult (Kure Type 2 Model 5) is realistically reproduced with slide molding for the side and top surfaces.

Carrier-based aircraft
・The molded color is gray to improve workability (prevent damage when cutting gates).
・Four Zero (three-seat) seaplanes are included.

Included decals
・Three sizes of naval ensigns, etc. are provided. The dimensions of the actual 10, 6, and 3 widths are reproduced in 1/700 scale.
・Includes the Hinomaru (Japanese national flag) and friendly identification stripes (yellow stripes) for carrier-based aircraft, and the Hinomaru also includes those without the white border from the later stages of the war.
・Decals include the white lines on the mast and the ship's name on the stern (two types: gold and solid battleship gray).
