In between battles, its anti-aircraft armament was strengthened. \u003cbr\u003eIn April 1945, as part of Operation Ten-Go to respond to the US forces that landed on Okinawa, the Agano sortied as the flagship of the Second Torpedo Squadron to escort the battleship Yamato.
