■Product Description
The Special Series aircraft carrier Hiryu is now available with photo-etched parts!
The product is modeled after the aircraft carrier's appearance during the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Midway Island invasion operation in June 1942.
The Midway Island invasion operation in June 1942 also includes the friend-or-foe identification (Rising Sun) markings on the flight deck, allowing you to recreate the Midway Island invasion scene as well.
Newly designed parts for 2021 have been prepared to unify the differences in the degree of reproduction of equipment etc. depending on the product release date, and some parts have been divided to facilitate painting.
・The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 is subdivided into 4 parts, increasing the level of detail from the existing 2 parts.
・The 12.7cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 Kai 2 with smoke shield is subdivided into 4 parts, increasing the level of detail.
・The 9-meter cutter on the boat deck is made of two parts for painting purposes, and the deck cradle is a separate part, allowing for a choice between a single-piece molded deck or a separate cradle.
・The 12-meter motorboat has separate canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopies for painting purposes. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued together.
・A new chrysanthemum emblem is provided for the bow.
・The boat body and loading area floor are separate parts in a 3-part construction, eliminating the need for masking after painting and assembly.
・The 12-meter motor launch can also be represented without the canvas.
・The ship's boat cradle features molded details such as uneven surfaces and lightening holes, resulting in a more detailed and precise design.
・The hull has a single-piece structure with the port and starboard sides integrated.
・Despite being a single piece, it has a three-dimensional feel with numerous portholes and the protruding boiler room ventilation ducts, which are more common on the port side.
・The flight deck is a single-piece structure with intricate carvings of a wooden deck, expansion joints, and gutters surrounding all four sides.
・Elevators and windbreaks are provided as separate parts.
・The edges of the flight deck are expressed with a split pattern using delicate carvings.
・The anchor chain deck and boat deck are expressed with delicate carvings of anti-slip split patterns and linoleum fasteners.
・The base of the bridge is a single-piece molded part using slide molding.
・The funnel is a two-piece structure with upper and lower parts glued together, and the part division line is set in a position where it is not visible.
・The strip patterns on the floor, such as the anti-aircraft gun mounts, are expressed with fine carvings.
・The bridge comes with binoculars to enhance the sense of precision.
・15 aircraft are included, with 5 each of Zero Fighter Type 21, Type 99 Dive Bomber, and Type 97 Carrier Attack Bomber, molded in gray.
・The 25mm twin machine guns are precisely molded and easy to paint, consisting of two parts, and the 2018 molded parts are included as standard.
・The molded color is gray for the main parts, hull bottom plate, aircraft, and machine gun parts.
Three types of decals are included.
・One decal sheet for aircraft markings is included.
・Two decal sheets are included for the ship name at the stern and the white lines on the deck supports.
・Includes etched parts that can express even the smallest details that are difficult to reproduce with injection molded parts, such as flight deck markings, naval ensigns, and flight deck/friendly identification marks (Hinomaru) from Operation MI in June 1942.
The etched parts include railings, ladders, masts, windbreaks, ladders, fall prevention railings, boat davits, cranes, etc.
