■Product Description
The aircraft cruiser "Mogami," which now has a vast aircraft work space at the stern, is now available with new parts!
The product is modeled after the Mogami-class lead ship "Mogami" as it appeared in 1943 when it was converted into an aircraft cruiser.
Features include the removal of the No. 4 and No. 5 main guns, the installation of a new aircraft work deck, the installation of the No. 21 radar, and the enlargement of the anti-aircraft command post and the forward machine gun mounts of the bridge.
New molds have been used to unify the degree of reproduction of equipment etc. depending on the product release date, and some parts have been divided to take painting work into consideration.
【CC】The No. 21 radar is expressed with more delicate engraving than the conventional included parts, such as the base of the insulator for fixing the element on the front side.
【HH】The 12.7cm twin high-angle gun A1 Kai 1 has been subdivided into a total of 6 parts, increasing the molding resolution from the existing 2 parts.
・The 9-meter cutter is made of two parts for painting purposes, and the cradle is a separate part, allowing for a choice between a single-piece deck molding or a separate cradle.
【NN】The 11-meter motorboat has separate canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopies for painting purposes. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued later.
・The 12-meter motor launch can also be represented without the canvas.
・The ship's boat cradle has molded details such as uneven surfaces and lightening holes, resulting in a more detailed and precise design.
・The chrysanthemum emblem on the bow and the navigation lights on the sides of the bridge are provided as new parts.
・Binocular telescope parts have been added to the anti-aircraft command post and compass bridge.
・Decals for the ship's name on the stern (in a solid battleship gray color) and the white lines on the mast have been added.
・The Type 96 25mm machine gun is now standardly made of two parts, reducing the painting/color separation work.
Hull
・The hull is a one-piece structure with the port and starboard sides molded as a single unit, allowing for a more stable shape during assembly compared to a two-piece glued-together type.
・The side bulges are represented by separate parts.
・To reproduce the portholes, which were reduced in number from the start of the war as a measure to prevent sinking, parts are made specifically for aircraft cruisers.
Upper Deck
・The upper deck is a single piece, and features detailed carvings to enhance the sense of detail, such as the fasteners for the linoleum deck and the anti-slip surface for the steel deck.
・Ventilation pipes and reels are represented as part of the deck, and the anti-slip split pattern below the aircraft work deck is represented by delicate carvings.
Each Deck
・Various shapes such as machine gun ammunition boxes, mounting areas for single machine guns, and hose reels are reproduced.
・The shelter deck is a separate part, and the torpedo equipment compartment on the lower level is also accurately reproduced.
・The aircraft work deck is a single piece, and the truss girder structure on the underside is also represented.
Bridge
・The base of the bridge structure is a one-piece part with engraving on all four sides using slide molding.
・The machine gun mount in front of the bridge is represented by a dedicated part with an enlarged shape.
Main turret
・The seams of the heat shields are represented by fine engraving on the sides and top of the turret.
Chimney
・Both the front and rear chimneys are split into left and right sections, and the handrails and double scaffolding are represented by delicate engraving.
・The rain-shelter grates on the chimneys are open, allowing a view of the inner cylinder.
・The steam exhaust pipes are separate parts from the chimneys, increasing the level of precision.
Mast and aircraft fittings
・The lower truss structure of the aft mast is represented by a single molded piece, making it easy to reproduce the detailed shape.
・The seaplane recovery crane is made as a single piece using slide molding, and the hook is also expressed with delicate molding.
・The catapult (Kure Type 2 Model 5) has its side and top surfaces realistically reproduced using slide molding.
Carrier-based aircraft
・The molded color is gray to improve workability (prevent damage when cutting gates).
・Eight Zero (three-seat) seaplane reconnaissance aircraft and four Zero seaplane observation aircraft are included.
Included decals
・Naval ensigns, national flags, and markings such as the Hinomaru on carrier-based aircraft are included.
・Three sizes of naval ensigns, etc. are provided. The dimensions of the actual 10 widths, 6 widths, and 3 widths are reproduced in 1/700 scale.
・Hinomaru on carrier-based aircraft, friendly identification stripes (yellow stripes), etc. are included, and the Hinomaru also includes those without the white border from the later stages of the war.
・Decals include white lines on the mast and ship name markings on the stern (two types: gold and solid battleship gray).
The product is an unpainted kit that requires gluing, assembly, and painting.
The scale is 1/700, and it is a waterline model that does not include the hull bottom.
This product is made up of conventional (Special Series) molds and newly added molded parts.
