■Product Description
The aircraft carrier Hiryu, one of the main ships of the Nagumo Task Force, which made a decisive attack against US aircraft carriers at the Battle of Midway, is back with new parts!
The aircraft carrier Hiryu was completed at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in 1939 as a quasi-sister ship to the Soryu.
Compared to the Soryu, the Hiryu had a wider flight deck near the bridge, the bridge was placed on the port side, and the foredeck was increased by one layer.
At the start of the war, it formed the Second Carrier Division together with the Soryu and participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Indian Ocean operation. At the Battle of Midway in June 1942, while the Akagi, Kaga, and Soryu were rendered inoperable by attacks from US carrier-based aircraft, the Hiryu counterattacked alone and severely damaged the US aircraft carrier Yorktown, but the Hiryu was also hit, caught fire, and sank.
●The product is modeled after the appearance of the aircraft carrier during the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and the Midway Island invasion operation in June 1942.
・The Midway Island invasion operation in June 1942 also includes the friend-or-foe identification (Rising Sun) markings on the flight deck, allowing for the Midway Island invasion operation as well.
Newly designed parts have been prepared to unify the degree of reproduction of equipment etc. depending on the product release date, and some parts have been divided to facilitate painting.
・The 12.7 cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 is subdivided into 4 parts, increasing the level of detail from the existing 2 parts.
・The 12.7 cm twin anti-aircraft gun A1 Kai 2 with smoke shield is subdivided into 4 parts, increasing the level of detail.
・The 9-meter cutter on the boat deck has been made into 2 parts to facilitate painting, and the deck mount is a separate part, allowing for the choice between a single-piece deck molding and a separate deck mount.
・The 12-meter motorboat has separate parts for the canvas and the wheelhouse/engine room roof, taking painting into consideration. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued together.
・A new chrysanthemum emblem is provided for the bow.
・The boat body and the loading area floor are separate parts in a 3-part construction, eliminating the need for masking after assembly.
・The 12-meter motor launch can also be represented without the canvas.
・The ship's boat cradle has molded details such as uneven surfaces and lightening holes, resulting in a more detailed and precise design.
・A decal has been added that includes the ship's name on the stern (in a solid battleship gray color).
・The Type 96 25mm twin machine gun is now standardly a 2-part construction, reducing the painting/color separation work.
・The hull has a structure where the port and starboard sides are one piece.
・The numerous portholes and the protruding boiler room ventilation ducts, which are often seen on the port side, are made of a single piece, giving it a three-dimensional feel.
・The flight deck is a single piece with intricate carvings of a delicate wooden deck, expansion joints, and gutters surrounding it on all four sides.
・Elevators and windbreaks are provided as separate parts.
・The edges of the flight deck are expressed with a split pattern using delicate carvings.
・The anchor chain deck and boat deck are expressed with delicate carvings of anti-slip split patterns and linoleum fasteners.
・The bridge base is made of a single molded part using slide molding.
・The funnel is a two-part structure with upper and lower parts glued together, and the part division line is set in a position where it is not visible.
・The strip patterns on the floor, such as the anti-aircraft gun mounts, are expressed with fine carvings.
・The bridge includes binoculars to enhance the sense of precision.
・Includes 15 aircraft, 5 each of Zero Fighter Type 21, Dive Bomber Type 99, and Dive Attack Bomber Type 97, molded in gray.
・The 25mm twin machine guns are precisely molded, easy to paint, and come in a 2-part design; standard parts are from the 2018 mold.
・The main parts, hull bottom plate, aircraft, and machine gun parts are molded in gray.
●Includes 3 types of decals
・One decal sheet for aircraft markings is included.
・Two decal sheets are included for the ship name at the stern and the white lines on the deck supports.
