1/350 US Navy Escort Carrier USS Gambier Bay (CVE-73)

$93.00
■Product Description
The Gambier Bay is one of the Casablanca-class ships.
It is the smallest possible configuration capable of operating carrier-based aircraft,
and its structure is based on that of a merchant ship.

50 ships of this class were built, and they are known for being mass-produced, all 50 of which were built within a year starting in the summer of 1943, at the suggestion of Kaiser Shipbuilding.

This ship was sunk in the Battle of Samar (October 25) during the Battle of Leyte Gulf from October 23 to 26, 1944,
when it was attacked by the Kurita Fleet, mainly the battleship Yamato.
As the battleship Yamato had very little combat experience,
it can be said that this is a valuable US escort carrier that fought against the battleship Yamato.

The hull is split into left and right halves, and by inserting girders inside,
it achieves both ease of assembly and high stability.
The deck is made of two separate pieces. The structure is such that the entire lower beam is placed over the hull.
The carvings on the surface of the deck are very fine and delicate.
The set includes 3 Avengers and 6 Wildcats.
(The wings can be displayed in either the extended or folded position, and the canopies are made of transparent parts)
A display stand is included.
