The Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King is
an anti-submarine helicopter of the United States Navy.
It is a large twin-engine turbine helicopter
adopted as a successor to the HSS-1 helicopter previously used by the Navy.
Because the SH-3H Sea King was developed as a carrier-based aircraft,
its five main rotor blades have a structure that allows them to fold automatically,
and the tail boom of the tail rotor also has a folding mechanism.
The fuselage of the SH-3H Sea King, whose main operational area is the sea,
is a watertight, boat-type semi-monocoque structure
and, combined with auxiliary floats on the sides of the fuselage, enables good water landing performance.
It is equipped with two T-58 turboshaft engines in parallel,
which ensure high output and high safety in the event of engine trouble.
It is equipped with the latest anti-submarine equipment, such as MAD Birds and sono buoys.
It is also used as a rescue aircraft when fighter jets are taking off from the aircraft carrier,
and is used as a transport aircraft, making it a multi-purpose aircraft.
