■Product Description
The F-4 Phantom II has exceeded 5,000 units in total production,
becoming the best-selling supersonic fighter in the liberal bloc.
Its superior all-weather combat capability and
versatility in handling both air combat and ground attack are the reasons why it has been adopted by the U.S. Navy,
Marine Corps, Air Force, and many other countries, and continues to be active today.
Initially developed as an all-weather carrier-based fighter for the U.S. Navy,
the first prototype made its maiden flight on May 27, 1958.
The Navy developed the B model as the first mass-produced model, the N model which was an improvement on the B model,
the J model which became the main fighter, and the S model which was an improvement on the J model.
The Air Force also decided to adopt it as the C model, and there is the D model which is an improved version of the C model,
the E model which is a long-nose type equipped with a Vulcan cannon in the nose,
and the G model which is the Wild Weasel,
and derivatives include the Marine Corps' reconnaissance version RF-4B and the Air Force's RF-4C.
In addition, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force also license-produces the Air Force's E model specifications as the EJ model,
and uses the RF-4E for reconnaissance.
