[About the USS Indianapolis]
Completed in November 1932, the USS Indianapolis was a heavy cruiser of the United States Navy that left behind numerous episodes until its tragic end just before the end of the Pacific War. After serving as the flagship of the reconnaissance fleet at the start of the war, in March 1943 it became the flagship of the 5th Fleet under Admiral Spruance, leading a large force in the landing operations on Saipan and Guam, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in early 1945. It participated in numerous operations, including battles. Then, on July 16, 1945, it departed San Francisco on a top-secret mission to transport crucial components of the atomic bomb later dropped on Hiroshima to Tinian Island, where a B-29 bomber base was located. On the night of July 30, while en route to Leyte Island after successfully completing its mission, it was sunk off the coast of Palau by two torpedoes fired by the Japanese Navy submarine I-58. This is a plastic model assembly kit of the USS Indianapolis, a heavy cruiser of the United States Navy. ●1/700 scale, 266mm in length, 29mm in width. ●Accurately models the ship as it appeared in July 1945, including its enhanced anti-aircraft armament. ●The voluminous hull is divided into left and right halves, and the details of the sides are realistically reproduced. The anchor chain and anti-slip surfaces on the deck are precisely sculpted. ●The bridge, funnel, mast, and radar are also delicately finished. Furthermore, the sharp armament parts, such as the triple 20.3cm guns, 12.7cm high-angle guns, and 20mm and 40mm anti-aircraft guns, convey its powerful offensive capabilities. ●Poly caps are used to attach the main gun turrets, allowing them to rotate even after assembly. ●Two Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk aircraft are also included.
