[Heavily Armed Destroyer with Anti-Aircraft Armament]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the Hatsuyuki, the third ship of the Type I Special Destroyer, which boasted heavy armament. The Special Destroyer, which was said to be innovative, also had a hidden problem: insufficient hull strength. In 1935, the Hatsuyuki's bow was severed by a large wave caused by a typhoon. This accident was so significant that it became the impetus for strengthening the hulls of subsequent Japanese Navy destroyers, but the Hatsuyuki avoided sinking and played an active role in various battles such as the Battle of Malaya and the Battle of Batavia. The kit models the ship in its reinforced anti-aircraft armament, including five 25mm triple machine guns.
