[A historically significant ship that established the style of modern warships]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the light cruiser Yubari, which attracted the attention of naval personnel not only in Japan but around the world by incorporating various technologies not seen in conventional cruisers, such as a compact 3100-ton class hull equipped with the heavy armament of a 5500-ton class ship. The kit faithfully models the style that had a great influence on subsequent Japanese naval vessels, such as the bow section with its large sheer and flare, the tower-shaped bridge, and the guided funnel that combined two exhaust pipes into one. Although Yubari is known for its valiant efforts in the First Battle of the Solomon Islands in 1942, this kit reproduces it in its appearance in 1944, when its anti-aircraft armament was strengthened and it looked even more formidable.
