■Product Description
[About Shinano]
The Shinano was the world's largest aircraft carrier, built during the Pacific War. Although planned as the third ship of the Yamato-class battleships, it was converted after the defeat at the Battle of Midway and completed as an aircraft carrier on November 19, 1944. With a waterline length of 266m, a trial displacement of 62,000t, and strong side armor inherited from the Yamato, it boasted heavy protection with an armored flight deck that could withstand a direct hit from a 500kg bomb. However, it capsized after being torpedoed by an American submarine on its way to outfitting work. It disappeared off the coast of Shionomisaki without ever seeing combat.
