About Shimokita
Following the first ship "Osumi," which entered service in 1998, the second ship, LST-4002 "Shimokita," was launched in November 2000. It features a uniquely planar bridge designed with stealth capabilities in mind, and a vast upper deck measuring 160m in length and 25.8m in maximum width. The forward section is a vehicle loading space, and the aft section is a helicopter deck. A 100m long vehicle deck is located in the forward part of the ship, and together with the upper deck, it can accommodate dozens of tanks and large vehicles. The ship features a 60-meter-long well deck that can accommodate two LCACs (Landing Craft Air Cushion) hovercraft. It can house a crew of 130, plus an additional 330 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force personnel, and can accommodate over 1,000 people in times of disaster. With the arrival of the Shimokita, there are now two Osumi-class transport ships. They are expected to play a vital role not only in transporting Japan Ground Self-Defense Force units in times of emergency, but also in relief efforts during large-scale disasters and as a supply base for UN peacekeeping operations (PKO). ■Product Specifications

●This is a 1/700 scale plastic assembly kit of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's state-of-the-art transport ship "Shimokita".●Length 254mm, width 37mm●Not only the exterior of the stealth hull, but also the interior of the well deck, the forward central hangar, the left and right side hatches used for loading vehicles, the first elevator, and the gate called the central walkway connecting the central hangar and the well deck are all three-dimensionally reproduced with new molds, and the large rear ramp is movable.●The flight deck and vehicle deck are molded in transparent so you can see the interior even after completion.●Two ships each in sailing and hangar configurations are included. In addition to the LCAC (Landing Craft Aerospace) landing craft and two CH-47J helicopters, two SH-60J patrol helicopters have been newly added. ● Two Type 1 missile boats, the fastest vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, are included in the set. ● Realistic 3D models of vehicles ranging from small vehicles to large trucks, tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery units, focusing on the most advanced vehicles of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. ● The pier (250mm x 20mm) and the cushions used when docking are reproduced. ● The decals are newly designed, including the markings for the second ship of the Osumi-class, "4002," and the ship's vehicles.
