Among them, the third ship, the USS Missouri, was commissioned in June 1944. Deployed to the Pacific front, the Missouri fought in various locations, including supporting operations for the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and even bombarding the Japanese mainland. After the war, at the end of August 1945, it entered Tokyo Bay and etched its name in history as the stage for the signing of the surrender document on September 2nd. Remaining in active service after the war, the Missouri was one of the first to sortie into the Korean War, which broke out in 1950. The USS Missouri was placed in reserve, but in 1986, it underwent a modernization refit equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and Vulcan Phalanx missiles, and was recommissioned. Along with its sister ship, the USS Wisconsin, it participated in the 1991 Gulf War, launching 28 Tomahawk missiles on the first day of the conflict. In total, it fired more than 750 16-inch main gun rounds to support ground forces. The USS Missouri was decommissioned in March 1992, bringing an end to its long history of about half a century since its commissioning. It is now open to the public as a memorial ship at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. ■Product Specifications
Manufacturer: Tamiya
Item No: 78029
Scale: 1/350
JAN: 4950344780297
Remarks
[Model Specifications]
●This is a plastic model assembly kit of the USS Missouri as it appeared during the 1991 Gulf War.●Scale 1/350.
