■Product Description
[Exploring the capabilities of the aircraft cruiser that the times demanded]
In the latter half of the Pacific War, the Japanese Navy's Mogami was converted into an aircraft cruiser with enhanced reconnaissance capabilities. Completed in July 1935 as the first ship of the Mogami-class, a large light cruiser equipped with five 15.5cm triple gun turrets. After the London Naval Treaty became invalid, its main guns were replaced with 20.3cm twin gun turrets, and it became a heavy cruiser. In the first half of the war, it fought bravely in the Malayan landings and the Battle of Batavia. Then, in June 1942, taking the opportunity of repair work for damage sustained in the Battle of Midway, it was converted into an aircraft cruiser. This led to the ship's redesign. An aircraft deck capable of carrying 11 seaplanes was added to the stern, and its anti-aircraft defenses were further enhanced with 10 triple 25mm machine guns. In May 1943, the reborn Mogami underwent further armament enhancements after suffering moderate damage in the Rabaul air raid in November of the same year. Subsequently, in June 1944, it participated in a reconnaissance mission during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. It also took part in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October, but was severely damaged and burned down by enemy aircraft. In this battle, which marked the de facto end of the Japanese Navy, the Mogami also disappeared into the Mindanao Sea. ■Product Specifications

[Model Specifications]
Plastic model assembly of the Japanese aircraft cruiser Mogami This is a model kit. ● 1/350 scale, 573mm in length, 76mm in width. The unique style with an aircraft deck at the stern of the hull is faithfully modeled as it appeared after the refit in 1943. ● The hull is split into left and right sections at the top and a single piece at the bottom, allowing for a realistic reproduction of the hull's form, including the beautiful bow. ● Large parts such as the hull and aircraft deck are secured with screws for reliable assembly. ● Compact bridge structure and guidance The distinctive features of the Mogami-class, such as the smokestacks, are faithfully reproduced. ● Transparent parts are used for the bridge windows and searchlight lenses to add a realistic accent. ● The main gun turrets, torpedo tubes, anti-aircraft guns, and catapults can be rotated even after completion. ● Parts for both normal and anti-aircraft combat are included for the main gun barrels. They can be swapped even after completion using polycaps. ● The fore and aft masts and flagpoles are made of durable ABS resin. ● The anti-aircraft machine guns on each section are finely detailed, including the flash suppressors and heat sinks. ● Delicate etched parts are provided for the cranes, catapults, aircraft propellers, transport vehicles, and runways. ● The anchor chain and propeller shafts are made of metal. ● Three Zero-type reconnaissance seaplanes and eight Zero-type reconnaissance seaplanes are included as aircraft. The delicate molding gives them a strong presence. A stand is also provided to display the aircraft in flight. ● Display base included.
