[Adding new appeal to the ultimate model]
The 1/32 Zero Fighter Type 52 has received high praise for its thorough reproduction from proportions to details, as well as for incorporating movable control surfaces and landing gear without compromising the sense of scale. Tamiya's meticulously crafted model is now making a comeback with new appeal. In addition to the original kit, a set of sharp, metal 20mm machine gun barrels and pitot tubes has been added. The barrels are pre-colored and the pitot tubes are plated to enhance the details. Markings are for the air force that participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. One additional aircraft type, based on the aircraft carrier "Junyo," has been added. Furthermore, the packaging has been made the same size as the 1/32 Zero Fighter Type 21, allowing for storage of the completed model. With refinements to each part, the Zero Fighter Type 52 stood against the powerful new American fighter planes. Revive the culmination of Japanese aircraft technology with this ultimate model.
[About the Zero Fighter Type 52]
The Zero Fighter continued to fly as the main fighter plane of the Japanese Navy throughout the entire Pacific War. In particular, in the latter half of the war, in order to counter the high-speed, heavily armed American fighter planes, the Type 52 was developed in conjunction with the Type 22. Then came the Type 52. The engine was the same 1130 horsepower "Sakae" 21 as the Type 22, but improvements were made to various parts, such as changing the exhaust pipe from the conventional manifold type to a thrust-type single exhaust pipe, shortening the wingspan to 11m, and shaping the wingspan into a semicircle, which increased the top speed to 565 km/h. As fixed armament, it was equipped with two 7.7mm machine guns in the nose and two long-barreled 20mm machine guns on each wing. The Type 52 began deployment to units in the autumn of 1943 and saw action in battles such as the Battle of the Solomon Islands, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the air defense of mainland Japan during the war. It participated in most of the battles in the latter half of the war, fighting valiantly against the overwhelmingly superior American forces in both quality and quantity until the end of the war.
【Abundant movable parts unique to large scale】
One of the attractions of this kit is the seven movable parts. Although this tends to be oversized, we have prioritized precision and reproduced it without compromising the outline or molding. You can enjoy realistic movement even after completion, and you will also gain a deeper understanding of the mechanism of the actual aircraft.
