■Product Description
[Light Armor for National Defense]
The Light Armored Vehicle is a vehicle equipped with steel plate armor and high mobility, with a crew of four, and deployment to units began in 2002. It is equipped with a 160 horsepower water-cooled 4-cycle diesel engine and has a top speed of 100 km/h. Taking advantage of its small size, it can respond quickly to various situations and is used mainly by the infantry units of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, as well as by armored reconnaissance units. From 2004 it was deployed to Iraq, and based on the lessons learned there, improvements were made to domestic vehicles from 2005 onwards, such as the addition of a fuel can and spare tire bracket to the rear of the vehicle. Furthermore, various specifications can be seen depending on the mission of each unit, such as the presence or absence of smoke grenade launchers and machine guns, and the shape of the antenna depending on the radio equipment used.
