To reduce weight, the hull was made of aluminum alloy, and the main gun was equipped with a 152mm gun launcher that could fire not only conventional rounds but also Shillelagh anti-tank missiles, incorporating the latest technology of the time. It was officially adopted in May 1966. More than 1,600 units were produced from June of the same year to November 1970. It was first deployed in combat in January 1969 during the Vietnam War, where it proved effective in attacking enemy positions using powerful multi-purpose high-explosive rounds. Based on lessons learned from combat, some vehicles were fitted with additional anti-mine armor on the front underside of the hull, wire nets on the front of the hull to protect against anti-tank rockets, and large gun shields for the M113ACAV mounted on the cupola.

■Product Specifications
Manufacturer: Tamiya
Item No: 35365
Scale: 1/35
JAN: 4950344353651

■Notes
[Model Specifications]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the M551 Sheridan, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the MM series. ●1/35 scale, overall length 185mm, overall width 80mm.
