[Air Force Artillery in North Africa]
The German Africa Corps, led by the renowned General Rommel, included numerous Air Force anti-aircraft units. Equipped with 88mm cannons, the Air Force artillerymen were deployed not only in their primary role of anti-aircraft combat but also in battles against heavily armored British and American tanks such as the Matilda and M3 Grant, and their superior skill and teamwork often saved the Africa Corps from crisis.
[About the uniform]
Air Force personnel deployed to the North African front were issued tropical uniforms, just like the Army uniforms. The Air Force's tropical uniforms differed in detail from the Army's, such as trousers with a large pocket on the left knee. The color was also a lighter sand color than the Army's, but it faded rapidly in the strong sunlight, resulting in a variety of shades.
