[About the Pkw.K2s Schwimmwagen 166]
Dr. Porsche, who recognized the potential of the small military vehicle Kübelwagen 82 as an amphibious vehicle from the beginning of its development, built the Schwimmwagen 128, a prototype with a closed hull, in November 1940. Based on the results of various tests, in the summer of 1941 he completed the Schwimmwagen 166, a high-performance four-seater small amphibious vehicle with a shortened wheelbase of 2,000 mm. It is equipped with a 25 horsepower air-cooled 4-cylinder 1,130cc engine at the rear of the vehicle, and has two-wheel drive with four forward gears and one reverse gear and ultra-low speed It was also capable of four-wheel drive using gears. It achieved a top speed of 80 km/h.

The Schwimmwagen could travel at 10 km/h by manually lowering its three-bladed propeller and rotating it in connection with the crankshaft. More than 14,000 Schwimmwagen 166s were produced between 1942 and 1944. It was mainly used by the Waffen-SS, Parachute Regiments, and Engineering Corps for reconnaissance and liaison on all fronts, and it earned the trust of soldiers due to its excellent amphibious capabilities and high off-road capability thanks to its four-wheel drive.
