■Product Description
[The second ship of the Lexington-class aircraft carriers, nicknamed "Sister Sarah" for its beautiful and majestic appearance]
Launched in April 1925 as the second ship of the Lexington-class aircraft carriers, and commissioned in November 1927, the American aircraft carrier CV-3 Saratoga was affectionately known as "Sister Sarah" for its beautiful and majestic appearance. Originally designed as a battlecruiser, its hull is very sleek, and it adopted an enclosed bow, which was rare for an aircraft carrier during the war. Another major feature is the huge funnel that rises almost in the center of the starboard side, with the bridge equipped with twin 5-inch anti-aircraft guns positioned in front of it. It boasts the longest overall length of any aircraft carrier that fought in the Pacific War. During the war, the Saratoga participated in many operations, sustaining damage and undergoing numerous refits to survive. However, in 1946, after the war, it became a target ship along with the Japanese battleship Nagato during an American nuclear test, and its body sank into the South Seas.
