The British Royal Navy battlecruiser HMS Repulse was considered one of the most beautiful warships in the world from the time of its construction. During World War I, lightly armored battlecruisers, which combined the speed of cruisers with the firepower of battleships, played a major role in naval battles. Among them, the Repulse was completed in August 1916. Through modernization refits between the wars, its side armor and anti-aircraft armament were strengthened, and when World War II broke out, it was used in the pursuit of auxiliary cruisers and the battleship Bismarck. It also participated in the [unspecified], and afterwards was deployed to the Far East region where tensions with Japan were rising. On December 10, 1941, two days after the start of the Pacific War, the Repulse, along with the state-of-the-art battleship Prince of Wales, sortied to attack the Japanese invasion force in Malaya, but disappeared off the coast of Malaya due to a fierce torpedo and bombing raid by Japanese naval aircraft.
