[The sleek style enhanced by silver plating]
The Hien was the only Japanese fighter aircraft equipped with a liquid-cooled engine during the Pacific War. It was equipped with the Ha40 engine, which was a licensed production of the German-made Daimler-Benz DB601 engine. It was characterized by its streamlined nose and long, slender wings, which are unique to liquid-cooled aircraft. It was officially adopted as the Type 3 Fighter in 1943, and its armament was strengthened several times to counter the highly armored American aircraft. Among them, the Type I-Tei, which had its nose extended by 20 cm and equipped with two 20 mm cannons in the fuselage and two 12.7 mm cannons in the wings, was the most numerous in the series, with approximately 1,360 units manufactured between January 1944 and January 1945. This special edition kit reproduces the Hien Type I-D, which played a key role in intercepting B-29s in the air defense of the Japanese mainland, utilizing its superior high-altitude performance and heavy armament, and is well known for the valiant efforts of the 244th Squadron led by Squadron Commander Kobayashi, which was responsible for the air defense of the capital. It uses silver-plated parts to create a high-quality texture.

This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit of the Hien Type I-D. ★Length 187mm, wingspan 250mm. ★Not only is the elegant style faithfully modeled, but the fuselage and main wings are finished with a matte silver plating to express a realistic texture. ★The inverted V-type 12 cylinder Ha40 engine is reproduced down to the auxiliary equipment such as the supercharger. ★The 20mm cannon and ammunition magazine in front of the cockpit, as well as the oil tank, are also made into parts. You can feel the tight layout. ★The canopy can be opened or closed. ★Includes two drop tanks, one seated pilot figure, two types of markings, and decals for mottled camouflage.
