■Product Description
[A Fusion of the Africa Twin Tradition and Advanced Technology]
The Dakar Rally is known as the world's most demanding motorsport. In the late 1980s, when Honda was racking up victories in the two-wheel category of the Dakar Rally, Honda released the XRV650, a replica model of the works machine NXR750, in 1988. This bike, which was the first to be nicknamed the Africa Twin, attracted a lot of attention, mainly in Europe, as a big bike with a strong off-road character, and established a new category called adventure tourer. Although sales in Japan ended with the model released in August 2000, its enduring popularity has not waned, and in 2015 the new Africa Twin, the CRF1000L, made its debut. It is equipped with a semi-double cradle frame and a 998cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke inline 2-cylinder engine that produces 92 horsepower (Japanese domestic specifications). The style inherits the tradition of the Africa Twin, with a large fuel tank, dual headlights, and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires that are important for off-road riding. Furthermore, a model equipped with a dual-clutch transmission (DCT), which eliminates the need for clutch operation, was introduced, making its diverse handling a hot topic. It also features electronic devices to support the rider during off-road riding, such as a G (gravel mode) switch and selectable torque control. Based on the concept of "going anywhere," this motorcycle has gained immense popularity worldwide as a bike that allows for comfortable long-distance touring in a wide range of situations, from on-road to off-road.
