【The East's main battle tank, a symbol of the Cold War era.】
In 1958, during the East-West Cold War, production began on the T-55 as an improved version of the Soviet Army's T-54 main battle tank. The low-altitude vehicle was productive, and the hemispherical artillery tower was equipped with 56 caliber 100-mm guns as the main gun. It also introduced a tactical anti-nuclear defense system. In addition to the Soviet Union, the T-55, which was also licensed in Czechoslovakia and Poland, recorded a massive production of about 100,000 T-54s and derivatives. It was deployed to many Eastern and Arab countries, among others.
