■Product Description
The British Royal Navy aircraft carrier "Hermes" makes a reappearance in the 1/700 Waterline Series.
The British Royal Navy aircraft carrier "Hermes" was one of the early "operational aircraft carriers designed as aircraft carriers." Laid down in 1918, launched in 1919, and commissioned in 1924. Although a small aircraft carrier with a displacement of approximately 10,000 tons, it greatly contributed to the development of carrier-based aircraft operations and operated in the Mediterranean and the Far East. It engaged in convoy escort and patrol duties in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, but was sunk in April 1942 during the Indian Ocean operation by an air raid by aircraft from the Japanese Navy's carrier task force. Hermes was a pioneering presence in the history of aircraft carrier development, and its design philosophy and operational experience had a great influence on the construction of later aircraft carriers.
This kit accurately reproduces "Hermes" with a simple parts configuration.
A new color printed painting instruction diagram has been added.
