The Cutty Sark was a teak clipper launched in Dumbardon, England in 1869. It was a typical high-speed ship with a length six times its width and a gross tonnage of 963 tons. It boasted a top speed of over 17 knots. At the time, wood was also scarce, so it was a wood-and-iron hybrid ship with an iron frame and teak planking. It is still preserved in Greenwich as the only clipper ship of its kind.
