The 901 Movement Reaches its Pinnacle
The BNR32 GT-R debuted in August 1989, when Japan was at the height of its bubble economy, as an additional model to the R32 Skyline, which had already made its debut as the "Super-Sensory Skyline." The lineage of the "Skyline GT-R," which had been interrupted for 16 years since the Kenmeri GT-R, was returned. The BNR32 was born to win the Group A race "JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship," which was the pinnacle of domestic touring car racing at the time, and its specially designed, powerful RB26DETT engine had its displacement determined in accordance with Group A regulations. The BNR32 Skyline GT-R achieved a perfect victory in every race it entered in the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship, achieving a legendary 29 consecutive wins. Since the introduction of the BNR32, racing has become a GT-R one-make series, and the BNR32 reigned supreme on every stage, from the street to the circuit, becoming a historically significant car that rewrote the history of automobiles up to that point.
