The "Chiyoda" was a seaplane tender built under the Second Naval Armaments Replenishment Plan of 1934, but in 1940 it was converted into a midget submarine tender, and further, as a result of losing its main aircraft carriers after the defeat at the Battle of Midway, it was converted into an aircraft carrier in 1943.
In its first battle, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, it was assigned to the Third Air Fleet's Third Carrier Division and used as a bomber equipped with 250kg bombs on Zero fighters. In 1944, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Cape Engaño, major naval battles between Japan and the United States, the ship participated as part of the "Ozawa Task Force" along with its sister ship, the Chitose. After being disabled by attacks from American carrier-based aircraft, it was intercepted by a cruiser force and sunk. This kit features a parts configuration that focuses on the essentials, making it simple, easy to assemble, and accurately reproduces the ship. Various fittings such as machine guns and anti-aircraft guns have been newly designed and added. It successfully expresses the precision and detail of a 1/700 scale model.
