The Crown, which has always made history as a luxury car in Japan, underwent a full model change in 1987, becoming the 8th generation S130 series Crown. In August 1989, along with a minor change, the "4000 Royal Saloon G V8" was added. The style, equipped with large side protection moldings that completely cover the lower half of the body, gave it the air of a top-of-the-line model.
