This ship, built as a cargo ship for Kawasaki Kisen, was outfitted as a special seaplane tender in 1942 during the Pacific War. During transport missions, it was attacked by torpedoes from a US submarine twice, but they failed to detonate and it survived, although it was sunk by bombing in May 1945. This kit is a 1/700 scale plastic model kit of the "Kunikawa Maru" converted into a special seaplane tender. With a parts configuration that focuses on the essentials, it is simple, easy to assemble, and accurately reproduces the ship. Various outfitting parts such as 25mm twin machine guns and aircraft catapults have been newly designed and added. It beautifully captures the precision and detail of a 1/700 scale model.
