■Product Description
The VK45.02(H) was a planned vehicle named in April 1942 by Section 6 of the Ordnance Department, which was to be built on the chassis of the VK45.01(H), later known as the "Tiger I," and equipped with a turret featuring the 8.8cm KwK 43 L/71 developed for the VK45.02(P) (typ180/181). In March 1942, Section 6 of the Ordnance Department requested Henschel to improve the turret of the VK45.01(H), and at that time, drawing number 1461 was drawn as a draft, with the VK45.02(P) turret mounted directly onto the VK45.01(H) chassis. However, a revised plan was later submitted to tilt the frontal armor of the hull from a nearly vertical shape to a 50-60 degree rearward slope. Henschel initially proposed producing 330 VK45.01(H) (Tiger I) tanks, followed by 170 VK45.02(H) tanks, and then VK45.03(H) (later known as the "Tiger II") from July 1943 onwards. However, this plan was rejected by Wolfgang Tomare, Chief of Staff of the Armoured Troops General, and the VK45.02(H) plan was scrapped in October 1942.
