As the name Zwilling suggests, this is a fixed anti-aircraft gun equipped with twin 12.8 cm FlaK 40 cannons. In cities such as Berlin, it was installed in sets of four on the roofs of anti-aircraft towers (reinforced concrete buildings over 30m tall) as a fixed anti-aircraft gun. This position provided a 360-degree field of fire, and low-to-medium altitude enemy aircraft could be dealt with by equipping the anti-aircraft tower with a 37mm cannon and a 20mm autocannon. However, anti-aircraft fire was not performed by the anti-aircraft tower alone, but rather based on firing data from the command tower.
The prototype gun was completed in 1940. Since it was intended to be a fixed-position weapon from the beginning, transportation was not considered. The first deployment was to an anti-aircraft tower in Berlin in the spring of 1942. Equipped with an automatic loader, it was capable of firing more than 20 rounds per minute. However, this gun was expensive, costing four to seven times more than the 88mm anti-aircraft gun. The total number produced is said to be between 34 and 38. It is believed that the Berlin anti-aircraft towers fired these guns into the air to indirectly bombard Soviet ground forces just before the fall of the capital.
The kit includes a movable gun barrel (up and down), a rotating barrel, three types of decals, and a platform.
