■Product Description
The XB-51 was a bomber that the US Air Force commissioned Martin to develop, but it was a legendary aircraft that was not adopted after only two prototypes were built.
Beaver Corporation planned this legendary aircraft, and Fox One Design developed it into a 1/144 scale kit!
[Aircraft Overview]
The XB-51 was a high-speed bomber that was ordered for prototype development in the United States in 1946.
It made its first flight in 1949, and one of the test pilots was Chuck Yeager, "the first man in the world to break the sound barrier."
Although the aircraft was highly regarded for its low-altitude flight performance, it was rejected in 1952 after only two prototypes were built due to problems with the landing gear and airframe strength.
A distinctive feature of the aircraft is that it is a rare three-engine aircraft for a military aircraft, with two jet engines mounted on the lower sides of the cockpit and one located in the tail.
The tail engine's air intake is located in front of the vertical stabilizer.
The armament includes a rotating bomb bay inside the aircraft capable of carrying various bombs up to 4,000 pounds (1,814 kg), and eight 20 mm cannons mounted on the underside of the nose as fixed armament (only on the second prototype).
The crew consisted of two people, and the cockpit had a bubble canopy like a fighter jet. The crew was divided into front and rear, with the front handling piloting and the rear handling bombing and navigation.
The main landing gear is a tandem system with double wheels at the front and rear on the underside of the fuselage, and auxiliary landing gear is mounted on the wings.
This aircraft was also the first Martin aircraft to be equipped with an ejection seat.
[Product Overview]
The parts are precisely molded using a 3D printer, so there is no need to worry about shrinkage.
The landing gear and bomb bay are precisely reproduced, and the bomb bay can be displayed in open or closed positions.
Furthermore, you can choose from two types of bombs to be equipped.
The canopy is reproduced with clear parts, the landing gear can be selected between parked and flight configurations, and the auxiliary landing gear on both wings is also reproduced.
Instant glue is used for assembly, but guides are provided on the wings and other parts to make assembly easier.
*This product is made with a 3D printer.
*Anhydrous ethanol is suitable for cleaning parts, but avoid soaking.
*Generally, we recommend cleaning with a neutral detergent. Also, cleaning with acetone may corrode the parts.
*The image is of a prototype.
*Due to manufacturer circumstances, the expected arrival month and the actual product specifications may change. Please understand in advance.
