■Product Description
The Yamato was the first ship of the Yamato-class battleships built by the Imperial Japanese Navy, and together with the second ship, the Musashi, it was the largest and only super-dreadnought battleship ever to be equipped with 46cm guns. The Yamato was commissioned in December 1941, shortly after the start of the Pacific War, and became the flagship of the Combined Fleet in February 1942. Its first battle was the Battle of Midway in June 1942, and in June 1944 it participated in Operation Kon and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. In October of the same year, during Operation Sho-Go 1, it carried out 46cm main gun bombardment against the American escort carrier force. In April 1945, it sortied to the Okinawa area during Operation Ten-Go 1, but was sunk by an air raid by the US military. The standard version kit includes decals, photo-etched parts, and a metal chain.
