■Product Description
Takao was a heavy cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the first ship of the Takao-class heavy cruisers. Construction began at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal in April 1927, and she was given the name "Takao" in June of the same year. She was launched in May 1930. Commissioned in May 1932, she belonged to the Second Fleet, Fourth Squadron. At the start of the Pacific War, she was involved in the Southern Operations and participated in the Second and Third Battles of the Solomon Islands in 1942. In 1943, she operated in the Central Pacific. After participating in the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944 and the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October of the same year, she was sabotaged by British midget submarines while anchored in Singapore for repairs, and remained moored until the end of the war. After the war, she was seized by the British Navy and scuttled in the Strait of Malacca in 1946 along with Myoko. The standard kit includes decals, photo-etched parts, and a metal chain.
