■Product Description
The USS Missouri (BB-63) was the third ship of the Iowa-class battleships and was named after the 24th state of the United States, making it the fourth ship to bear that name. It was named by Margaret Truman, daughter of then-President Harry S. Truman, who was from Missouri. Launched in 1944, the Missouri was the 63rd and last battleship built for the US Navy. During World War II, it participated in battles such as the Battle of Okinawa, and on September 2, 1945, the Japanese surrender document was signed on its deck. After the war, it was decommissioned in 1955 after participating in the Korean War in the 1950s, and was recommissioned in 1986 with the addition of state-of-the-art weapons and electronics such as BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles, Harpoon missiles, and Phalanx CIWS. After participating in the 1991 Gulf War, it was decommissioned in 1992 and has been preserved as a memorial ship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii since 1999.
