The destroyer "Hibiki" belongs to the last group of ships built during the construction period of the Special Type destroyers.
Therefore, due to a design policy that was thoroughly focused on fleet decisive battles, it boasted a heavy appearance with a large bridge when completed, but due to repeated maritime accidents caused by being top-heavy, the upper part of the bridge was slimmed down, and it became a destroyer with a unique appearance that differed from conventional Special Type destroyers.
